Update your Ledger and install the Cardano app
Plug your Ledger Nano S, Nano S Plus or Nano X into your computer and open Ledger Live. Update the firmware to the latest version, then install the 'Cardano (ADA)' app from the Ledger Live app catalog. Trezor users can skip Ledger Live — Eternl talks to Trezor Model T and Safe 3 directly via WebUSB.

Open Eternl and add a hardware wallet
Launch Eternl in a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Brave or Edge) or the desktop app. Firefox doesn't support WebUSB, so hardware wallets only work in Chromium browsers. Click 'Add wallet' and choose 'Hardware wallet', then pick Ledger or Trezor.

Unlock the device and open the Cardano app
Enter your PIN on the Ledger and open the Cardano app on the device itself. On Trezor, unlock the device when prompted in the browser. Eternl will detect the device and read the public keys — no seed or private key ever leaves the hardware wallet.

Name the account and finish setup
Give your hardware account a name (e.g. 'Ledger main') and confirm. Eternl will derive your Cardano addresses from the public keys and start syncing balances. This can take 10–30 seconds on first setup.

Sign your first transaction on-device
Every send, stake, mint or DApp interaction now requires you to review the transaction details on your Ledger or Trezor screen and press the physical buttons to approve. This is what makes hardware wallet security — even a fully compromised computer can't move your ADA without physical confirmation.
